Where do the weeks go?!
Evie and I are quietly sitting at the breakfast table(enjoying a little sunday morning Starbuck's run).. It's never a good thing when you are the first one in the Starbucks on a Sunday morning. The employees, who are lounging in the overstuffed chairs by the window, look at you with pity, and thinly veiled annoyance.. I comfort myself with the fact that I never order a complicated drink just a big old cup of coffee, and a milk for Evie... The employees can quickly return to bemoaning the corporate machine.
Brian drove in at 2:30am.. and while the 6:30am wake up call from sister was a bit of a struggle, it's nice to see Brian sleep in past 5am... his usual wake up. So we enjoy our coffee and milk while he sleeps soundly.. 3 shows in one day. From Grand Rapids to Livonia to Ferndale. At least he stayed in the state this time! Lawn Chairs has been going swimmingly, other than the crazy schedule.. Brian is mostly in Michigan and the states closest to it until September and then he returns to the East and Canada as well. Evie will be playing hooky from pre-school in November when we head down to play Eddie's Attic, Downstairs Live and a few other shows.. I plan on not only keeping up with her incredibly rigorous academic routine, but also cramming the entire curriculum into the few weeks we are gone so she is far ahead of the other 4 year olds in her class. Reading.. check! Writing.. check! French..check! Trigonometry...check! Perhaps some Russian and Bio Chem thrown in for good measure.. you can never be too prepared for Kindergarden! All jokes aside, even if I could barely manage to teach her how to balance a check book properly, preschool is for one thing and one thing only... GERMS! Which she will get plenty of on tour.
I'm hoping to get Brian to blog on this a little bit, he's pretty strapped for time. When he is home he is working on his radio show.. Soundtrax which airs on WLAV Saturday mornings from 9-10am. You can listen to it on the web if you don't get the station@ wlav.com.
